Six Ways to Lower Rising Health Costs for Companies

The CHALLENGE
Chattanooga Christian Schools did the hard work of building a strong benefits program for their faculty and staff. The team layered multiple value-added and cost-containment solutions into their benefits package. It was challenging for members to remember all the different value adds they had access to and how to go about accessing them. It was important to CCS that these programs were easily accessible and well utilized so people would receive the full value that the benefits were intended to bring, which meant adding a one-stop shop for their benefits.
We showed the employer the gap — and brought a plan to close it.
• A single place to access every program
• Digital copies of ID cards that members could retrieve on demand
• Real guidance for people facing an upcoming procedure BEFORE decisions and costs were locked in.
The APPROACH
Medefy became the one-stop shop for the entire benefits experience. Instead of tracking down the right vendor or point solution, members open a single app to find plan info, digital ID cards, and guidance from care guides on where to receive the best quality care for the best price.
Adoption didn't happen by accident. To kick off the rollout, Chattanooga Christian Schools offered a small but well-chosen reward: members who downloaded and activated Medefy got a free drink from a local coffee truck brought on-site. It was a low-pressure, community-friendly nudge — the kind of perk that gets people talking in a tight-knit school where word travels fast. That word-of-mouth momentum did the rest.

Chattanooga Christian Schools’s plan was missing three things:
• A single place to access every program
• Digital copies of ID cards that members could retrieve on demand
• Real guidance for people facing an upcoming procedure BEFORE decisions and costs were locked in.

The results
Four years in, Chattanooga Christian School members aren't just enrolled, they're engaged. Members have exchanged more than 4,090 messages with their care team. Over half of all referrals (53%) are routine primary and preventive care, a sign that Medefy has become embedded in everyday benefits decisions rather than reserved for emergencies..
The financial story compounds year over year: 16x ROI, $147,334 in realized savings, and an average of $472 saved per navigation event.
